PIAA 95065 26-Inch Super Silicone Wiper Blade Review: A Game-Changer for All-Season Driving

When it comes to windshield wipers, the PIAA 95065 26-Inch Super Silicone Wiper Blade stands out as a premium choice for drivers seeking superior performance and durability. Designed with silicone rubber, these wiper blades create a water-repellent barrier, ensuring streak-free visibility and quiet operation. Whether you're navigating through a torrential downpour or dealing with light drizzle, these wipers promise to deliver exceptional performance in all weather conditions. But do they live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the details based on real customer experiences.

Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Performance and Quality

One of the most praised aspects of the PIAA 95065 wiper blades is their performance. Customers consistently highlight how effectively these wipers clear the windshield, even in heavy rain. One reviewer noted, "When it is raining, these wipers are at their best. They hardly make any noise and wipe the windows very clean, which means better vision to see more objects in my way, such as animals, pedestrians, and other vehicles." Another user shared, "These wipers really excel in rainy conditions. Between the treatment wipe for the windshield and the water-repellent built into the blades, they are absolutely amazing."

The silicone rubber material is a standout feature, as it not only ensures a clean wipe but also leaves a water-repellent layer on the windshield. This means water beads up and rolls away even when the wipers aren’t in use. "I never once had to turn the wipers on any higher than the 'Low' setting during a four-hour drive in a downpour," one customer reported.

Durability and Longevity

Durability is another area where the PIAA 95065 shines. Many customers appreciate how long these wipers last compared to traditional rubber blades. One reviewer stated, "I understand that these wipers last longer than the regular rubber wiper blades. Instead of buying a new set every year, I only have to buy one every four or five years." Another user shared a similar sentiment, saying, "My current set is 7 years old and still performs better than some rubber brands that are only a year old."

The silicone material is more resistant to environmental factors like ozone and extreme temperatures, which contributes to its longevity. However, some users noted that regular cleaning is essential to maintain optimal performance. "I clean them once a week since I drive often, and I definitely notice a difference in their performance once they’re clean," one customer mentioned.

Ease of Installation

Installation is generally straightforward, but it does require a bit of prep work. The package includes a windshield prep-pack that cleans and prepares the windshield for the silicone blades. "It took me about 20 minutes to wash my windshield and apply the prep-pack," one user shared. While this extra step might seem inconvenient, customers agree that it’s worth it for the improved performance.

However, a few users encountered issues with the metal clips that hold the wiper blades in place. One reviewer explained, "After cleaning the blades, they slipped out about a half-inch without me noticing. I had to use needle-nose pliers to gently bend the clips back into place." While this was a minor inconvenience, it’s something to keep in mind during installation.

Noise Level

One of the standout features of the PIAA 95065 is its whisper-quiet operation. Many customers were thrilled with how silent these wipers are compared to traditional rubber blades. "The one important thing I would like to emphasize is how quiet they are. I can barely hear them, even during heavy rain," one user raved. Another reviewer added, "I can have a nice, calm conversation with any passenger without being interrupted by noisy wiper blades."

Winter Performance

While these wipers excel in rainy conditions, some users reported minor issues during extreme cold weather. One customer from Ottawa, Canada, shared, "In temperatures below -25°C, the wiper blade popped out of the frame on the far tip of the passenger side. I had to press it back into place occasionally." However, this issue was attributed to the curvature of their windshield and the extreme cold, rather than a flaw in the product itself.

Final Verdict: Are the PIAA 95065 Wiper Blades Worth It?

The PIAA 95065 26-Inch Super Silicone Wiper Blade is a top-tier choice for drivers who prioritize performance, durability, and quiet operation. Its silicone rubber material ensures a clean, streak-free wipe and leaves a water-repellent layer on the windshield, enhancing visibility even when the wipers aren’t in use. While the installation process requires some prep work and a few users reported minor issues with the clips, these drawbacks are outweighed by the product’s overall quality and longevity.

If you’re tired of replacing wiper blades every year and want a reliable, high-performance option, the PIAA 95065 is an excellent investment. As one satisfied customer put it, "I love them and will never buy any others."

I understand that these wipers last longer than the regular rubber wiper blades that I would have bought at a parts store; plus, the cost is well worth it in the long run, instead of buying one new set every year for four or five years, I only have to buy one new set every four or five years

When it is raining, these wipers are at their best, they hardly make any noise, wipe the windows very clean; clean windows means better vision to see more objects in my way such as animals, pedestrians, cars, motorcycles or buses; especially at night it is even more important. I understand that these wipers last longer than the regular rubber wiper blades that I would have bought at a parts store; plus, the cost is well worth it in the long run, instead of buying one new set every year for four or five years, I only have to buy one new set every four or five years. Important note, just like any other brand of wipers, these wipers need to be cleaned once in a while, I usually do them once a week since I drive so often and I definitely notice a difference in their performance once they are clean; less streaks, clear, clean windows. My only complaint about these blades has to do with the metal clips that hold the wiper blades on; after cleaning the blades, they slipped out about a 1/2 an inch without me noticing, when it came time to use them, they acted improper. I stopped the car and checked the blades, I was able to reinsert the blades; then, I gently pulled on them and they slipped out of the clips on the windshield wiper assembly, I realized that the two metal clips at the end that hold the blades in place were too far apart; I took some needle-nose pliers, gently bent the two clips ever so slightly trying not to damage anything. After that, I went to the other side and repeated the process. Now the blades stay in place and have not given me anymore problems. Except for this one little hick-up, these blades are perfect and I am very impressed with them. I have had them for several weeks now and they have performed admirably. The one important thing I would like to emphasize is how quiet they are, I mean really quite, I can barely hear them; it's great! I can have a nice calm quiet conversation with any passenger and not be interrupted by noisy wiper blades like the ones I use to have. Update: June 10, 2019 - Still going strong, no issues, still quiet. Very good wiper blades. I am still impressed.

This review is copy & pasted to the separate product pages for each of the wipers I bought

Short version: super quiet, super effective, easy to install (but takes a little more prep than other wipers), NOT HAZY/great visibility, I love them and will never buy any others. This review is copy & pasted to the separate product pages for each of the wipers I bought. I have had my car for 5 years. I bought it used and it has had the squeakiest windshield wipers since the day I brought it home. I avoid driving at night when it's rainy because my visibility is shit (that is mostly not the wipers fault but still). I thought I had gotten the best in the market when I replaced them previously, but boy was I wrong. I finally did like 3 minutes of research and found that silicone wipers are considered the best. Bought these immediately because they were only $10 more expensive than my previous "top of the line" wipers. Ok actual review time: I installed these after I got home from work. It was 6pm, dark, and about 40°F at the time. I did not read the instructions ahead of time so I was not expecting the prep work of washing my windshield, but it didn't take long. 20 minutes tops to do it & the rest of the windows too. Very easy, just felt weird to wash my car in the cold and dark lol. Since I bought 2 wipers I had two of the prep wipes. One I used for the windshield as instructed and the other I used for my other windows/side mirrors. The website was very easy to use & find what adapter your car needs for them to install. Again, it was dark out...I grabbed a tiny lantern flashlight I had from camping and installed both wipers in less than 5 minutes in that terrible lighting. The next morning, there was a very thin layer of frost on the windshield. I ran my defroster for a bit to melt it and then ran the wipers to clear it away...even just that one wipe was enough to realize I made the right choice. It was smooth, quiet, and cleared every single spot. My previous wipers never did that even right out of the box. I normally would need 3-4 wipes to clear the same level of melted frost in the past. I was excited--the reason I installed them when I did is because the forecast was calling for rain during my 1 hour commute home in the dark. After work when I got in my car, it was a steady rain but not heavy. Still, when you drive 80mph on the highway with other cars around spraying water from their tires too, it usually sucks. These wipers were so great I almost forgot it was rainy. Not a single squeak, never had to turn them up higher than the slowest setting...I'm in love & telling everyone I know that they need to get these. Can't speak to longevity because I have had them on for less than 48hours but I honestly do not care, I'll continue to buy them every month if I have to because they are that good. *amended to say, I had not seen previous reviews about haziness until after posting this. I did not havy any haziness problems and I noticed those reviews are all over a year old. I have used rainx windshield treatment in the past and you have to apply it and then wipe it off with a clean towel. Same thing with the prep wipes that come with these wipers. Maybe the instructions did not specify that in the past? Idk either way DO NOT skip that step. My visibility was perfectly fine/even better than a clean, untreated windshield.

Could have lasted longer but I stopped cleaning them regularly years ago

My current set are 7 years old ready to be replaced. Could have lasted longer but I stopped cleaning them regularly years ago. Best, longest lasting wiper blades I’ve ever used. ANY other brand, especially rubber would only last me 1-2 years. These perform better at 7 years old compared to some rubber brands only a year old. Price is well worth it when they last this long in Florida heat where rubber crumbled in 1-2 years.

This is the second pair I own on my second vehicle

I absolutely love these PIAA wipers. This is the second pair I own on my second vehicle. The first pair I had were on my previous car, a Honda Accord, I used them for over four years in constant Seattle rain and they performed as good as new, untill I got my current vehicle, a Subaru Crosstrek. The wipers fit perfectly on the Crosstrek and perform phenomenally. Unlike the previous pair of Bosch wipers that were on there and started streaking really bad after just one and a half years. PIAA instructs you to wash your windshield really well and then to apply a special silicone liquid onto the windshield that PIAA includes in the package to help the wipers operate at their optimal level. Not only are the PIAA wipers made with phenomenal quality, but as an amazing bonus they are all produced in Japan. I used to use Bosch wipers exclusively back in the 90s and 2000s when they were still made in Belgium. Unfortunately the Bosch wipers sold in the U.S. now are all exclusively made in China, as a result their quality has suffered tremendously. I'm so glad that I discovered the wonderful PIAA wipers, I just hope they will continue to make them in Japan, and don't decide to go the shameful outsourcing route that Bosch decided to take.

I liked the sachet included for applying to the windcreeen

These wipers are outstanding. I liked the sachet included for applying to the windcreeen. They fitted straight onto the wiper arm ( J hook ) of a Colorado that had given us a lot of grief with other wipers and retaining clips. The only downside was that the special price only applied to one size, otherwise i would have bought more.

Overall, I'm VERY satisfied with their performance

I live in Ottawa, Ontario (Canada) and bought these wipers just prior to Christmas so I've had some time with them. Overall, I'm VERY satisfied with their performance. Cons: In the winter when we were in some extremely cold runs of weather (below -25 C) I had a problem with the wiper blade popping out of the frame on the far tip of the passenger side. It wouldn't do it all the time but something I had to keep an eye on and simply had to press the end of the blade into the frame when it did pop out. I attribute it to a couple of things. First off, I have a '98 F-150 and there is a lot of curvature towards the sides of the windshield so the wiper on the passenger side actually does not contact the windshield surface in that area when the blade is fully down or in the stow position (of all the different brands that I've tried, I haven't found one that can contour to that curve). Second, given the cold conditions I assume the metal of the frame contracted just slightly enough to allow the blade to pop out when it was not in contact with the windshield. I thought about crimping that one clamping area a little but I wanted to wait and see how it played out. I do have a bit of a squeak when the wipers are on but nothing major. Pros: These wipers really excel in rainy conditions (as opposed to winter conditions where they also performed very well). Between the treatment wipe for the windshield and the the water repellant built into the blades, they are absolutely amazing. Before I purchased the blades I used "Rain-X" on the windshield but haven't had since installing them. Yesterday I had to make a highway drive of about four hours which was all done in downpour conditions. I never once had to turn the wipers on any higher than the "Low" setting and that was only when passing transport trucks, any other time I had them on an intermediate setting. Visibility was never an issue when obviously other vehicles on the road were having problems. When not around traffic I could have shut the wipers off and still had great visibility with the water just beading off the windshield. The wipers did a great job of clearing the water with no streaking. I have tried several different brands of wipers but these certainly have gained top spot in my eyes and definitely would recommend them to family and friends!

Tried to use an old adapter, but it did not fit properly

Apart from the fact that an adapter was missing, meaning the wiper could not actually be fitted to our car, it is excellent. Tried to use an old adapter, but it did not fit properly. Nevertheless, I activated the windscreen wipers and they work for a stroke or ten, but kept jumping out of the adapters. (Need to contact PIAA for a correct adapter....) BUT we went on holiday with normal wiper and did not need to use them when the rain came down. The silicon layer these wiper blades leave on the windscreen really does work. Excellent vision without wiper use, windscreen stayed much cleaner than usual for the three week period, even with the use of normal wiper blades. Normally this is an issue with our old Saab....not this time.
