TRICO Silicone Ceramic™ Windshield Wiper Blades: A Comprehensive Review

When it comes to ensuring clear visibility on the road, windshield wipers are an unsung hero. The TRICO Silicone Ceramic™ (90-2222) 22 Inch & 22 Inch Pack of 2 Automotive Replacement Windshield Wiper Blades promises to deliver premium performance, durability, and all-weather reliability. Designed with advanced silicone-ceramic technology, these wiper blades are engineered to outlast standard blades while providing optimal visibility in rain, snow, and even scorching heat.

But do they live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the details, based on real customer experiences, to uncover the pros and cons of this product.

Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

1. Quality and Performance

The TRICO Silicone Ceramic wiper blades are praised for their high-quality construction and impressive performance. Many customers have noted that these blades provide a streak-free wipe, even in harsh weather conditions.

  • Pros:

    • Superior Cleaning Ability: Customers rave about how well these blades clear water, snow, and debris from their windshields. One reviewer mentioned, “Works really well, even in heavy rain and snow.”
    • Quiet Operation: Unlike some wiper blades that chatter or squeak, these blades are designed to operate quietly, ensuring a peaceful driving experience.
    • All-Weather Durability: The silicone-ceramic coating is built to withstand extreme temperatures, from -30°F to over 150°F, making them suitable for year-round use.
  • Cons:

    • Longevity Concerns: While the blades are marketed to last three times longer than standard wipers, some users reported that they started leaving streaks or lines on the windshield after about a year of use.

2. Ease of Installation

Installation is a critical factor for any wiper blade, and here, the TRICO blades receive mixed reviews.

  • Pros:

    • Universal Fit: These blades are designed to fit a wide range of vehicle models, including popular trucks and SUVs like the Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F-150, and GMC Sierra.
    • Hassle-Free Setup: Many users found the installation process straightforward and quick, with one reviewer stating, “Easy to change, great quality.”
  • Cons:

    • Tight Fit for Some Vehicles: A few customers, particularly those with Mercedes Sprinter vans, reported that the blades were extremely difficult to install. One user shared, “It took all my strength and 22 minutes to attempt installation, and I ended up with a bloody thumb.”
    • Sizing Issues: Some users noted that the blades were slightly too long for their vehicles, causing them to stick to the windshield frame.

3. Durability and Longevity

The TRICO Silicone Ceramic blades are marketed as having extended performance, but customer experiences vary.

  • Pros:

    • Impressive Lifespan: Many users were satisfied with the durability of these blades, with one reviewer stating, “Longevity is comparable to national brands.”
    • Resistance to Wear: The ceramic coating provides excellent protection against UV rays, ozone, and other environmental factors, ensuring the blades remain functional in tough conditions.
  • Cons:

    • Inconsistent Longevity: While some customers praised the blades’ durability, others reported that they started to degrade after a year, leaving streaks or failing to clean effectively.

4. Value for Money

At a slightly higher price point than standard wiper blades, the TRICO Silicone Ceramic blades are an investment.

  • Pros:

    • Premium Features: The advanced silicone-ceramic technology and aerodynamic design justify the higher cost for many users.
    • Reliable Performance: For those who prioritize quality and performance, these blades are worth the extra expense.
  • Cons:

    • Pricey for Some: A few customers felt that the blades were overpriced, especially considering the occasional fit and longevity issues.

Conclusion: Is It Worth It?

The TRICO Silicone Ceramic™ Windshield Wiper Blades are a solid choice for drivers seeking high-quality, all-weather wipers that deliver excellent performance and durability. Their advanced silicone-ceramic coating, quiet operation, and universal fit make them a standout option for many vehicle owners.

However, the product isn’t without its flaws. Some users experienced installation challenges, particularly with specific vehicle models, and a few reported that the blades didn’t last as long as expected. Additionally, the higher price point may not appeal to budget-conscious buyers.

Final Verdict: If you’re looking for premium wiper blades that can handle extreme weather conditions and provide a streak-free wipe, the TRICO Silicone Ceramic blades are worth considering. Just double-check compatibility with your vehicle and be prepared for a potentially tricky installation process.

Great wiper! Works really well

I have a good mechanical aptitude

Description said these were made to fit a 2016 Mercedes Sprinter. I have a good mechanical aptitude. But the "fit" was such an incredibly tight squeeze that it took all my strength and 22 minutes to attempt installation. In the end, the driver side is finally in place, the passenger side is sort of wedged so it won't come off and I have a bloody thumb. If you own a vehicle such as a van or motor home based on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis, do not buy these pricey blades.

Bought it anyways and it does fit with the extra attachment sent along

Note: said does not fit your car. Bought it anyways and it does fit with the extra attachment sent along. Lincoln MKC

 Cleaning well and quiet

Not afraid of cold. Cleaning well and quiet. After 1 year starts making lines on a windshield.

The blade sticks the windshield frame

I have only one concern that may not affect others; the blade on the right side of the vehicle was about 1/8 or maybe 1/16 of an inch too long. The blade sticks the windshield frame. I will need to take a small portion of the blade off with a drenell tool or clipper. I have no clear idea if others will have this problem. We live remotely and I know of no one else with this vehicle model: Mercedes GLK 250, 2013. Other than this issue, the blade performs very favorably. Thank you.

A little on the pricey side but operates and cleans smoothly

Fit my older truck correctly. A little on the pricey side but operates and cleans smoothly. Time will tell.
